Your customers can stop receiving push notifications at any time by changing their browser settings. Unlike SMS (where customers reply STOP), push notification unsubscribes are managed through the browser itself.
How to unsubscribe on desktop
Chrome:
- Click the padlock icon (or tune icon) in the address bar while on your store
- Find Notifications in the permissions list
- Change it to Block or Ask (default)
Firefox:
- Click the padlock icon in the address bar
- Click Connection secure > More information
- Go to the Permissions tab
- Find Send Notifications and select Block
Safari (macOS):
- Go to Safari > Settings > Websites > Notifications
- Find your store in the list
- Change to Deny
How to unsubscribe on Android
- Open Chrome and tap the three-dot menu > Settings
- Tap Site settings > Notifications
- Find your store URL and tap it
- Change notifications to Block
Good to know
- When a customer blocks notifications, they are automatically removed from your active subscriber count over time
- There is no way for you as a merchant to force-unsubscribe a push subscriber — it must be done from the customer's browser
- If a customer wants to re-subscribe, they need to reset the notification permission in their browser and visit your store again
- Unsubscribed customers will not count toward your push notification delivery numbers
