If you are moving to Firepush from another push notification app, here is what you need to know.
Can I transfer my existing subscribers?
Push notification subscribers cannot be transferred between providers. This is a technical limitation — push subscriptions are tied to the specific service worker and Firebase project of each app. This applies to all push notification providers, not just Firepush.
How to rebuild your subscriber list
The fastest way to re-collect your subscribers is:
- Install Firepush and enable the opt-in widgets on your store
- Send a final campaign from your old provider with a link to your store. When those visitors arrive, the Firepush opt-in prompt will appear and they can subscribe
- Remove the old provider once you have sent your final campaign and given subscribers enough time to visit your store
All new visitors to your store will be prompted to subscribe to Firepush going forward.
What about SMS customers?
SMS customer data is stored in Shopify, not in individual apps. When you switch to Firepush and sync your customers from Shopify, all customers with active SMS marketing consent will be imported automatically. See our SMS customer import guide for details.
