Timing is critical for abandoned cart SMS recovery. Firepush sends up to 3 reminders with configurable delays. Here are the default timings and why they work:
Recommended sequence
- First message (1 hour) — catches customers who were simply distracted. This message typically has the highest conversion rate as the customer is still in a buying mindset.
- Second message (24 hours) — a gentle reminder the next day. Consider adding a small incentive like free shipping.
- Third message (72 hours) — a final nudge. A stronger incentive like a discount code can help close the sale.
Tips
- You can adjust the timing for each reminder in your Firepush dashboard
- Always include a direct link back to the customer's cart using [redirectToURL]. Learn more about message variables
- Escalate your incentives — no discount on the first message, small discount on the second, bigger discount on the third
- Keep messages short to stay within a single SMS segment (160 characters) to minimize costs
- Messages will not be delivered before 8:00 AM or after 9:00 PM in the recipient's local time
