How to segment your SMS subscribers

Segments let you target specific groups of customers when sending SMS campaigns, so you can send more relevant messages and save on SMS credits.

How it works

Instead of sending an SMS campaign to all your subscribers, you select a segment as the recipient. Segments are created in the Subscribers > SMS customers > Segments section of your Firepush dashboard using filters.

Customer data is synced from your Shopify store — Firepush automatically imports your existing customers and keeps them up to date as new orders and customers come in. Learn more about importing SMS customers

Available filters

  • Money spent — filter by total amount spent
  • Number of orders — filter by how many orders a customer has placed
  • Placed an order / Didn't place an order — filter by order activity within a time period
  • Date created — filter by when the customer was added
  • Located in / Not located in — filter by customer address country
  • Phone located in / Phone not located in — filter by phone number country
  • Tagged with / Not tagged with — filter by Shopify customer tags
  • Last SMS activity — filter by recent SMS engagement

You can combine multiple filters using AND/OR logic to create precise audience segments.

Managing segments

From the Segments page you can:

  • Create new segments
  • Edit, rename, or duplicate existing segments
  • See the number of SMS recipients in each segment
  • Export segment data
  • Delete segments you no longer need

Tips

  • Use the Phone located in filter to exclude countries you don't ship to — this saves SMS credits
  • Target customers who didn't place an order recently with a re-engagement campaign
  • Use Shopify tags to create custom groups (e.g. VIP customers, wholesale buyers)
