How to collect push notification subscribers

Firepush provides two types of opt-in methods to collect push notification subscribers on your store.

Browser prompt

The browser prompt is the native browser notification permission dialog. When a visitor arrives at your store, they see a prompt asking to allow notifications. This is the simplest and most effective way to collect subscribers.

The browser prompt is available for the welcome push notification and can be combined with a flyout widget.

Flyout widget

The flyout widget is a customizable sign-up box that appears on your store. It can be configured for different push notification types:

  • Welcome — general subscription prompt for new visitors
  • Price drop — allows customers to subscribe to price alerts for a specific product
  • Back in stock — allows customers to subscribe for restock alerts on out-of-stock products
  • Abandoned cart — encourages visitors to subscribe before leaving
  • Delivery updates — lets customers opt in to order tracking notifications

Customization

You can customize the flyout widget in the Opt-in tab of each automation:

  • Position — top left, top right, bottom left, or bottom right
  • Icon — gift, discount, money, sale, delivery, or bell
  • Display delay — show instantly, after a number of seconds (5, 8, 15, or 30), or after a number of page views (2–6)
  • Text and colors — fully customizable message, button text, and color scheme

Tips

  • Use a display delay of 8–15 seconds to let visitors engage with your store first
  • Product-specific sign-up boxes (price drop and back in stock) collect highly engaged subscribers
  • The browser prompt combined with a flyout widget gives visitors two chances to subscribe
