If the browser push notification prompt is not appearing on your store, check the following:
1. Store password protection
Auto-prompts do not work on password-protected stores. Remove the store password in your Shopify admin to enable the prompt.
2. Browser support
The auto-prompt only works on browsers that support web push notifications (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera, Safari). See our supported browsers article for details.
3. You already allowed or blocked notifications
If you previously clicked Allow or Block on the notification prompt, the browser will not show it again. To test:
- Use an incognito/private window
- Or reset the notification permission for your store in your browser settings
4. Firepush app embed is disabled
Make sure the Firepush embed is enabled in your Shopify theme. Go to Shopify Admin > Online Store > Themes > Customize > App embeds and ensure Firepush is toggled on.
5. Welcome opt-in is not enabled
The browser auto-prompt is part of the Welcome push notification. Make sure it is enabled in your Firepush dashboard under the Welcome automation's Opt-in tab, with Browser prompt selected as the opt-in type.
6. Display delay
If you set a display delay (e.g. 8 seconds or a number of page views), the prompt will not appear immediately. Wait for the delay to pass or try navigating through a few pages.
If the issue persists, contact our support team via the in-app chat.
