What happens when you change your Shopify theme

If you are switching to a new Shopify theme, here is what you need to know about Firepush.

Your subscribers are safe

Changing your theme does not affect your existing push or SMS subscribers. Subscriber data is stored separately and is not tied to your theme.

Re-enable the Firepush app embed

After switching themes, you need to make sure the Firepush app embed is enabled in your new theme:

  1. Go to Shopify Admin > Online Store > Themes
  2. Click Customize on your new theme
  3. Go to App embeds (in the left sidebar)
  4. Toggle Firepush on
  5. Click Save

If Firepush is not enabled in the app embeds, the opt-in prompts and notification scripts will not load on your store.

Check your sign-up boxes

If you use Firepush sign-up boxes (price drop alerts, back in stock alerts), verify they are displaying correctly on product pages after the theme change. Sign-up box appearance may vary between themes.

Test after switching

After activating your new theme, we recommend:

  • Visiting your store in an incognito window to test the opt-in prompt
  • Checking that sign-up boxes appear on product pages
  • Sending a test push notification to confirm delivery works

Common issues after theme change

  • Opt-in prompt not appearing — the Firepush app embed is likely not enabled in the new theme
  • Sign-up boxes missing — check the app embed settings and your Firepush dashboard
  • Different styling — sign-up box appearance depends on your theme's CSS, which may differ from your previous theme

If anything is not working after a theme change, contact our support team via the in-app chat.
